sold out

Dates and Times:

Sunday, August 4th 10am - 4:30pm

Saturday, August 24th 10am - 4pm

Where: My Home in Port Townsend, WA

Learn how to weave a soft sided bag used for foraging. These bags are inspired by the Wasco peoples of the Columbia Plateau, often called “Salla Bags”, that are made with dogbane, grasses and other locally found fibers. In this class we will be using hemp cord and your choice of colored wool yarn with the addition of a couple rows of Stinging Nettle fibers that you will harvest and process yourself.

This special class is two days spread apart in three weeks to give you time to take home and work on the twining. You will learn how to make your own pattern by drawing it on graph paper first and using the technique of full turn twining to weave that pattern onto your bag. You will have your own choice of two colors from the yarn choices available. The rim will be a braided rim(rim in one of the photos is the braided rim wrapped with buckskin).

This is for all skill levels but some experience with twining and good finger mobility is recommended. The class size for this is limited to 5 students.

Cost includes the materials fee($35)

Cancellation Policy: After 7 days before class only material fee will be refunded unless you find someone to replace your spot.
